Guiding in the National Park can require a permission - Foto: NRK/ Benjamin Fredriksen

Arranging guided tours and other organized activities in Lofotodden National Park is regulated. If such activities reach a certain scale, they require a permission from the National Park Authority.

The reason for this regulation is that guided tours can lead to significant wear and tear on vegetation and may disturb wildlife, especially birds of prey and other bird species that are vulnerable during the nesting season.

What do we mean by organized activities?

Organized activities refers to activities where a person, organization, or company coordinates or arranges an event that is announced or marketed in advance, for example, on their own website or on Facebook. This includes, among other things, guiding larger groups on foot, with snowshoes, or skis, organizing training events, and setting up tent camps.
